CIRCA - Columbia International Relations Club and Association

ESIMS

The Educational Simulations Series, CIRCA's community outreach program, organizes Model United Nations programs for local high school students at no cost to the school and participants, offering Model UN programs to students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate. At these simulations, CIRCA aims to educate students on world events, Model UN processes, as well as parliamentary procedure. The goal of ESIMS is to prepare these students for future, larger conferences, as well as to give them a chance to practice debating and public speaking. ESIMS organizes four conferences annually, held on Columbia's Morningside Heights campus.

This year we hope to engage in a partnership with UNA-USA, where Columbia students help public middle school and high school teachers implement global studies through Model UN. Columbia students who participate will then have the opportunity to staff UNA-USA's International High School Model UN conference held at UN Headquarters in NYC (2009 had over 2,300 student delegates from across the U.S. and 17 other countries)
